Melvin joined Howard Ecker + Company after a 14-year banking career in which he completed a corporate development program, managed and grew sales teams, built a book of wealth management lending clients and held underwriting authority. Prior to joining the Merrill Lynch/BoA organization in 2016 Melvin spent 12 years with Wells Fargo which started in Savannah and brought him to Chicago in 2012. He directly originated hundreds of loans not counting the numerous grants & sponsorships he assisted various organizations obtain throughout his banking career.
As an active Chicagoan Melvin sits on the board of the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, has led fundraising efforts for Chicago Association of Realtors and was the Chairman of the Wells Fargo Black/African American Connection Chicago Chapter. Although his career has taken him to various cities as his childhood did (growing up in a military family), he has been an active civil servant in every community. He is a past board member of Rebuilding Together and has completed the State of Georgia Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Program. From Ohio to Georgia and now Illinois Melvin has completed numerous volunteer projects, served on committees and boards with several organizations.
Melvin was a 4-year NCAA scholarship athlete at Georgia Southern University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance – emphasis real estate and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Business. Melvin and his 3 children reside in Garfield Park on the Westside of Chicago.
